Resources I Love

Tools that have made a real difference.

The learning environment matters just as much as the curriculum. Over the years, I have discovered that the right tools can make a real difference in how students feel, focus, and show up for learning. These are products and resources that have genuinely worked for me in my classroom and in my own life. I share them here because I believe every learner deserves a space that supports their whole self.

Creating a Calm and Focused Learning Environment

As a special education educator, I have seen firsthand how a student's emotional and sensory environment affects their ability to learn. Diffusing essential oils is one of the simplest and most effective ways I have found to support a calm, focused atmosphere, whether at a desk, in a classroom, or at a kitchen table.

Here are a few of my personal favorites from dōTERRA:

For Focus and Mental Clarity

  • Basil, Eucalyptus, and Spearmint contain chemical components that promote calming, grounding, uplifting, and energizing feelings, all of which contribute to a greater sense of focus. I love diffusing these during study sessions and work time.
  • The Motivate Blend is a great choice for students who need an extra push to get started on tasks.
  • Rosemary is known as a top energy and memory booster that helps increase mental clarity and focus. It is perfect for homework time.

For Calm and Stress Support

  • Balance creates a sense of calm and well-being by blending grounding wood oils with Frankincense and Blue Tansy. It is a powerful tool for countering cycles of worry and helping to ease anxious feelings.
  • Adaptiv Calming Blend is designed to help you adapt to the daily twists, turns, and stresses of life. Diffuse it in the mornings or whenever you want an environment free of overwhelm and full of calm.
  • Lavender is a classroom and homework staple. Its calming nature makes it useful for easing feelings of tension and promoting soothing, positive feelings.

For Grounding and Emotional Balance

  • Vetiver is known for its grounding and calming effect on the emotions. It is wonderful for creating a calm atmosphere at home or helping students feel settled and ready to learn.
  • Frankincense is great for helping to reduce stress levels, boost mood, and improve focus while minimizing distractions. It blends beautifully with Peppermint and Wild Orange for an energizing and uplifting combination.

A Note on How I Use These

I diffuse these oils during learning time, work sessions, and whenever the room's energy needs a reset. A few drops in a diffuser go a long way. For students who are sensitive to scent, start light and see how they respond.

These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. I simply share what has worked for my students, family, friends, and me.
